Insights

This is a recent snapshot of the health of the Bahá’í websites for national communities listed at Bahai.org. The results of from Google’s website tester, PageSpeed Insights (https://pagespeed.web.dev/) done in February of 2025.

There are almost 200 official National Communities in the Bahá’í World. This chart compares each of these websites for Performance, Accessibilty, Best Practices, and (Technical) SEO. Google doesn’t add a total score, so this one has been added for your convenience.

National Community Websites

The websites are listed alphabetically, first by Continent, and then by Country, following the format found at https://www.bahai.org/national-communities.

To be effective, websites must deliver useful information to people. To do this, websites must be understood by the search engines, otherwise people don’t see the website. To be technically healthy, among other things.

“Responsive” design was ineffective, because large images were sent and returned for smaller images, wasting time, data and patience. The modern approach sends the smallest image first with “progressive enhancement” for the larger screens. This makes more sense, because sending smaller and exchanging it for larger images takes milliseconds on the faster desktop connections.

200 Audits in Four Categories

Over 200 audits are performed for both mobile and desktop. Mobile being the most important, because that has become the dominant screen. These audits are categorized into Performance, Accessibility, Best Practices, and (Technical) SEO. The scores in each category are expressed as a percentage.

Real Search Engine Optimization includes many other factors, including careful research into the questions that are being asked, skillfully answering those questions, producing valued and unique data that people will link to instead of recreate, and the number of “backlinks” to your website by other websites that are doing just that.

Percentages Ranks

For convenience, these are expressed in colors like a traffic light, green, yellow, and red. Scores of 90 and above are acceptable and colored green. A score between 90 and 50 is unacceptable, and colored yellow. Finally, a score below 50 is a fail and colored red. WordPress doesn’t seem to have a way to color code the cells individually.

I have added the language of the website. While this isn’t part of either presentation, Bahai.org or PageSpeed, it speaks (pardon) to the diversity of our world community.

Make It Easy

One of the basic rules in any presentation – teaching, selling, presenting – is to make it easy for the other party – student, customer, attendee. We should not make someone learn a new language to learn the Bahá’í Message. We should publish the Message in every language.
